Saw the completion of work to the existing roof of our main factory, which was re-felted and reglazed throughout. There was also further investment in the shape of a 5 axis CNC wood working router and full range of belt sanders for the joinery mill. The Metalwork Department also added metal polishing to its skillset with the introduction of a Polishing Department.

Benchmark added two more manufacturing locations to its estate; one, a 20,000 sq. ft. assembly plant, the other a joinery, bench assembly and finishing plant. There was also further investments in the form of a full new joinery mill extraction system, a new state of the art wet spray booth, a new self load-unload CNC router and a Haas 3 axis mill machine to aid our tool room manufacturing capacity.

To achieve a high standard in bulk metalwork manufacture, BFL invested in automated punch, shear & auto folding technology with the additions of P2 and S4 Salvagnini machines. Monthly turnover first hit the million mark and the trend ran for five straight months.

BFL purchases its first Co2 Tube & Flat Bed Semi Auto Load Laser to enhance the metalwork in-house offer.

In 2000, Apex moulding was amalgamated with Benchmark and to this day remains a very important part of the business. Having a toolmaking department gives Benchmark great flexibility and very quick reaction times. In late 2000, Benchmark decided to move all 7 of its manufacturing materials into one building, purchasing Jubilee House - an 80,000 sq. ft. facility big enough to accommodate their expanding business. Benchmark started working with Debenhams, Marks & Spencer, Wilkinson's and Sodexho, and by the end of 2001, turnover had grown to £5million.
